So far, my 30 posts in 30 days challenge is going pretty well.
I think a big part of that is the third bullet under “How I plan on doing this”:
Don’t constrain myself with a writing routine. As long as a post gets shipped by the end of the day, that’s the routine.
I’ve found myself writing at all times of the day.
In previous failed attempts at building a writing habit, however, I’ve tried to set a time around the habit. Something like “write 300 words everyday as soon as I get out of bed”.
What would happen then, though, is that I would miss writing one morning and then feel bad for the rest of the day even though there was still plenty of opportunity to write the rest of that day.
Sometimes by making habits as simple and free of constraints and qualifiers as possible, they become more manageable.
