Since writing is editing, it follows that editing is a skill a writer would want to get better at.

Here’s an approach to editing I read about recently:

• After finishing a draft, go through and mark each section with either a “+” or a “-“
• A “+” denotes that the section is strong
• A “-” denotes that the section is weak and needs work
• The goal with editing is to turn each “-” into a “+”
